Scripture: Malachi 3:1-4
“Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver…” — Malachi 3:1-3
Reflection
God’s justice doesn’t begin with the world—it begins with His people. The Israelites cried out for justice, asking, “Where is the God of justice?” (Mal. 2:17). But when He answered, it wasn’t with immediate judgment on others. Instead, He promised a messenger to prepare the way for His refining fire.
Jesus didn’t just come to fix the world—He came to cleanse His temple. That includes you. Like silver purified in fire, we are placed in the heat so that every impurity rises to the surface. It’s painful. It’s uncomfortable. But it’s necessary. The goal isn’t destruction; it’s transformation.
Think about it: the refiner knows the silver is pure when he can see his reflection in it. What impurities are keeping Christ’s reflection from shining clearly in you?
Takeaway: Submit to the Refining Fire
? Stop resisting conviction. When God exposes sin, don’t excuse it—repent. (Proverbs 25:4)
? Trust His process. The fire isn’t punishment—it’s preparation. God is making you more like Jesus. (Romans 8:29)
? Let your life reflect Christ. Ask: What in me still needs to be burned away so Jesus is seen more clearly?

Father, I want to reflect You, but I know that means facing the fire. Purify me. Remove anything that doesn’t belong. Even when it’s painful, I choose to trust Your refining work in my life. Let me shine for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
