Mark 15:40–41
“There were also women looking on from a distance… who when he was in Galilee followed him and ministered to him.”
When Jesus was arrested, the disciples fled.
Mark 14:50 says:
“They all left him and fled.”
But at the cross, Mark tells us that some followers remained.
Several women stood watching from a distance.
These women had followed Jesus from Galilee.
They had served Him and supported His ministry.
Luke adds an important detail:
“They provided for them out of their means.” (Luke 8:3)
These women were not merely spectators.
They were partners in the mission of Christ.
They traveled with Jesus.
They supported His ministry.
They served faithfully.
When others ran, they stayed.
Their quiet devotion reflects Jesus’ definition of discipleship:
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)
True discipleship is not about prominence or recognition.
It is about faithful perseverance.
These women witnessed the crucifixion.
They would also witness the burial and the empty tomb.
God often entrusts the greatest revelations to those who serve Him faithfully.

Lord, give me the faithfulness of these companions who followed You all the way to the cross.
