Mark 11:9 – “Hosanna!”
A man once said, “I married her for her smile, but I stayed for her soul.” Love matures from what someone does to who someone is. The same is true in our relationship with Jesus.
? Head:
Hosanna is both a cry for help and a shout of praise. But the crowd’s hosanna was transactional: “Save us now, on our terms.” The moment He didn’t deliver—by Friday—they were shouting “Crucify!”
Jesus is worthy of praise, even if He never fixes a thing in your life the way you want. He already fixed the most important thing—your separation from God (Romans 5:1).
Thomas Watson said,
“Christ is not sweet because He brings peace, but because He is peace.”
❤️ Heart:
Worship is adoration—not manipulation. Do you praise Christ for His beauty, or bargain for His benefits?
Consider Job. After all was stripped from him, he still said, “Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him” (Job 13:15). That’s Hosanna with depth.

Ask yourself today:
- When I worship, is it about what I want God to do—or about honoring who He is?
- Am I following Jesus out of faith or for favor?

Pick a hymn or worship song that focuses purely on God’s nature (e.g., “Holy, Holy, Holy”). Sing or read it aloud—then write 3 attributes of Jesus you love, apart from anything He does for you.
Prayer:
Lord, I confess that I often praise You with conditions. Teach me to adore You for Your holiness, Your mercy, Your love—not just for what I want. Let my worship be true.
