Resurrection isn’t just about Jesus’ tomb being empty—it’s about your new life being full.
Romans 6:4 says, “Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” That means we don’t just believe in resurrection; we walk in it. Baptism symbolizes death to the old you, but it doesn’t stop there. It declares that a brand new you has been raised to life—one with a new heart, a new mind, and a new purpose.
You aren’t just a cleaned-up version of your old self. You’re not in rehab—you’re in resurrection.
Colossians 2:12 puts it plain: “You were buried with him in baptism, and raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.”
And here’s the wild part: you’re not just raised for Jesus; you are raised with Jesus. You are now one with the Holy Spirit. At the deepest level of who you are—beneath all the scars and regrets—lives the Spirit of God.
Heart: Something to Feel
You ought to feel thankful today. Because the truth is, Jesus didn’t come to make bad people better. He came to make dead people alive. And if He’s made you alive, that means you are no longer a slave to sin, no longer wandering aimlessly, no longer living for yourself. You’ve been drafted into the Kingdom—signed, sealed, and set apart.
You may still remember your past, but Jesus rewrote your story in blood. Your baptism wasn’t just your public profession. It was your personal funeral and resurrection—your declaration that your life is not your own anymore.
And like going to a wedding reminds you of your own, seeing someone baptized should stir up your heart to remember yours. The music may be different, the clothes may be different, but the commitment is just as deep. It was the moment you said, “Jesus is Lord, and I’m done saying no.”
Hand: Something to Do
- Remember Your Baptism. Write down when and where you were baptized. What did you declare that day? Are you still living like you meant it?
- Respond with Obedience. When Jesus speaks, don’t delay. He’s your Lord. That means when He calls, you say, “Yes, Lord.”
- Reflect and Repent. Are there places in your life where you’ve taken back what you surrendered? Lay them down again today. You don’t belong to sin—you belong to the King.
- Rejoice in Your Resurrection. You’ve got resurrection power pulsing in your bones. Walk like it. Think like it. Love like it. Forgive like it. And serve like it.
Closing Challenge: If you’ve never truly bowed the knee to King Jesus, today is the day. You may be breathing, but without Him, you’re still dead in your sins. You can’t fix yourself—if you could, Jesus would’ve never had to hang on that cross. But He did. For you.
He died your death, so you could live His life.
So here’s your invitation: turn from your sin, believe in the finished work of Jesus, and follow Him with your whole heart. When He calls your name, answer like a soldier reporting to the King: “Yes, Lord.”
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that I don’t just get a second chance—I get a second birth. I remember my baptism today, the moment I laid down my life and picked up Yours. Help me live like I’m raised from the dead. Remind me that I’m Yours, and I’ve given up the right to ever say no to You again. Holy Spirit, stir me up to walk in the power You’ve placed in me. Let today be a resurrection day for many. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
