Baptism powerfully symbolizes the transformation from death to life in Christ. Each baptism loudly declares that our old self—the sinner, the rebel—is crucified with Christ and no longer lives. The Apostle Paul clearly states, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” (Galatians 2:20). Remember, baptism itself does not save; it symbolizes the saving work of Jesus, who alone can rescue and transform us.
Heart: Something to Feel
Today, let your heart be filled with gratitude and joy as you witness the incredible reality of lives transformed by Christ. Baptism reminds us vividly that Jesus saves, changes lives, and raises the dead to new life. Embrace the deep assurance and excitement that God, out of His righteous kindness and boundless love, has completely ended your old life and given you a brand-new start. Crucifixion with Christ is the kindest thing that God can do for the old you.
Hand: Something to Do
- Reflect honestly about areas in your life where you’re still negotiating with your old self. Pray earnestly, surrendering these areas to God and asking for His strength to leave them permanently behind.
- Share your baptism testimony with someone this week. Encourage them with the story of how Christ transformed your life.
- Celebrate joyfully today, recognizing that the Kingdom of God is expanding. Worship and rejoice as you see the power of God at work in the lives of others.
Prayer: Father, thank You for bringing the ‘old me’ to a sudden, definite end in Christ. Help me daily to leave behind my old self and live fully in the new life You have given me. Fill my heart with joy and gratitude, and empower me to boldly declare through my words and actions the transforming power of Jesus. Amen.
